Atletico Madrid blew a two-goal lead in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Club Brugge KV in the Champions League round of 32. Despite dominating possession (58%) and outshooting their opponents 17-13, Atletico couldn't hold on to their early advantage.

The Spanish side took control of the match early, with Alvarez converting a penalty in the 8th minute after Griezmann was fouled in the box. Lookman then doubled their lead just before halftime with a clinical finish. However, the game turned on its head in the second half as Club Brugge fought back.

Onyedika and Tresoldi scored quick goals for the home side to level the match at 2-2. While Atletico had the better xG (2.33 vs 2.33), Club Brugge's clinical finishing proved the difference. An own goal from Ordonez gave the Belgians the lead, before Tzolis netted a late equalizer to complete the comeback.

Tactically, Club Brugge's high press was the key to their recovery. They won the ball back high up the pitch, forcing Atletico into mistakes. The Spanish side struggled to build out from the back, with their 85% pass accuracy unable to unlock the Brugge defense. This tactical failure cost Atletico, who lacked the composure to see out the game.
